Some laboratory services we offer are as follows:

Blood tests

A blood test for your dog and cat will include a CBC and a complete blood count. This allows your vet to learn more about your pet's health. It identifies and determines white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets in their blood. This helps evaluate their immune system.

In addition, a blood test will also identify:

  • Glucose
  • Proteins
  • Electrolytes
  • Cholesterol
  • Endocrine levels
  • Digestive Enzymes

A vet would often use a blood test to detect, identify or diagnose an illness or disease. Several situations would require them to order blood work for your furry friend, including:

  • Their first veterinary visit
  • During an annual checkup, if your vet suggests it
  • If your pet is showing signs of an illness, disease, injury, or is acting abnormally
  • Pre-surgical tests
  • Before starting a new medication

Faecal and urine analysis

These tests will help your vet diagnose conditions such as urinary tract infections, bladder stones, kidney function, toxicities, and glucose in the urine (which is a sign of diabetes). Faecal examinations can also detect parasitic, viral or bacterial infections.
